Read Elizabeth Blanco is a junior at Westminster School in Atlanta where she is a bible study leader for middle school students, a civic engagement fellow and a member of the Varsity Tennis and Cheer teams. Read Elizabeth also serves as a volunteer assistant teacher during the summers at Odyssey Atlanta, an academic program that supports Atlanta Public School students in rising 1-12 grades from underserved communities to help provide a path to college.
Outside of school, Read Elizabeth has a passion for serving in the community, especially working with children and addressing food insecurity. During the pandemic, her family co-founded The Compassion Kitchen Project which supported local restaurants and communities suffering from food insecurity. Through this work she has become involved with PAWKids in the Grove Park community where she serves as the Chair of the Junior Board.
In 2023, Read Elizabeth started a “Break Box” program where volunteers provide nutritious food for families during school breaks when children are not otherwise receiving meals at school.
Read Elizabeth aspires to be a leader that builds bridges and connects resources between communities to help children grow and achieve their full potential.
